My Tutoring Philosophy:
- Learning should be a fun experience. A dry instructor or poorly written textbook can put a real damper on the fun of learning. I strive to keep subjects exciting with activities and real-life application and avoid rote memorization drills that don’t contribute to a true understanding of the material.
- Learning is a developmental experience. The more we know about the world around us, the more interesting our world becomes. We should be fulfilled by what we are learning and our own progress toward higher understanding. There are no stupid questions, pointless courses, or topics that are impossible to understand; rather, we often need to learn to view things in a different light and appreciate different ideas about life and the world.
- Resources are a vital tool for any life-long learner. I am only one of many resources to help a student succeed. In addition to helping students learn a particular subject or skill, I teach students how to find the information they seek- such as learning critical thinking skills instead of just being given an answer, developing good self-study techniques and habits, utilizing Boolean operators in web searches, how to find online forums and student groups where they can ask their questions, and utilizing new technologies to “put themselves out there”, whether it is for academic or occupational purposes. I know I might work myself out of a job this way, but I firmly believe that having these resources at hand is important to a student’s success both in and out of school.

Business Hours
Appointments are available between 10 am and 10 pm, 7 days per week, except major holidays. Late night, early morning, and “cram session” hours are available to existing clients for additional charge.
Service Area
In-person tutoring is available to students in the Denver Metro Area, roughly covering the areas between Brighton and Boulder south to Denver and Golden. Tutoring can be conducted on a college campus, private home, or even at a park or wifi hotspot- whatever is mutually convenient and allows for productive study and activities.
Tutoring is also available via Skype for students outside the standard service area or in case of inclement weather (This is Colorado, after all!) I am open to other arrangements as well. If you have unique needs, please contact me to discuss.
Group Sessions
I will lead group sessions of up to 10 students. However, if students find subject material particularly difficult, they may wish and I may ask that they schedule a private session or a small session with students experiencing similar difficulties prior to attending a group session with their peers. This ensures that everyone is on the same page and able to benefit equally from group study sessions.
One student or parent needs to be designated as the primary contact and will be responsible to set appointments, render payments, and communicate relevant information to the group. Any student is welcome to contact me after a session with additional questions or concerns regarding the material, but for administrative purposes there needs to be a designated group contact.
Standard Rate & Payments
My standard rate is $25 per hour. Late night, early morning, and cram session hours are available for $40 per hour to existing clients. Clients within the service area are not charged for travel time to/from the session location. Clients outside the service area who are unable to complete a session via Skype or are unable to travel to the service area may be considered, but will be charged for travel time- contact me to discuss.
Fees are due prior to the end of a tutoring session. You can purchase hours by navigating to the “Products Page” and locating the product “Tutoring”. Enter the number of hours you wish to purchase (hours may be purchased in advance, if desired, and do not need to be used all at once.) You can checkout via Paypal or Google Checkout, or select the check option to pay in-person via check or cash. Please note that Skype clients need to mail a check several days in advance of a session if choosing the check payment option. Please do not purchase hours until after we have completed an initial consultation.
Returned checks are subject to an additional $25 fee. Returned checks or any other failures to remit payment without prior arrangement will result in a halt of all further tutoring sessions until the account is paid in full. If more than one check is returned from a single client, future payments will be required by PayPal at the time a session is scheduled.
